Sounds of the Hounds

I think the 'puppies' are part hound.  No, really.  It is more than the fact that their noses are on 24/7, especially Chance and Fiona.  I figured out that Silver's father wasn't a purebred Black Lab.  He was not built like a Lab, he had a much slimmer and sleeker body structure.  Silver was built the same way and we had always attributed it to the Husky in her.  Until one day Zappa got on a barking spiel and wouldn't quit, then Silver wrangled in with her Indian War Cry, which then set off Chance's belting from the other side, until all of the dogs had joined in and we had a regular Howling Choir going on.

That's when I began to realize those were not Husky cries or howls, those were the sounds of the hounds!

The Howling Choir is a daily tradition.  We can even start them on cue, although it is nowhere as good when it is their idea!!   Darn independent thinkers!!

Here's a clip from the Front Dogs side singing at the door of separation from the Back Dogs:  Please excuse the sideways glance, we weren't able to upright it.

Listen to Chance get down!!

Now you be the judge.  Are these Husky cries?  Or are they the call of the Hounds?
Or could it be a little of both?

PeeS.  Please don't tell Daddy about that his precious Husky/Lab mixes might be part Hound.  It will break his heart!  BOL

We may be biased, but it sounds like a good deal of husky wooing in there. We even wooed along with them.

I can hear a bit of hound!!
I was terrified when we first got Sherman and Leroy, I didn't want Plunger to bark around them because I didn't want them to think that was what a bark should sound like!!

I'm not sure about this. Here's a true hound baying over on You Tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKqiJqEFwac. What do you think when you listen side by side?

Haha, I couldn't tell either bark apart!
Though I really don't know what a hound bark sounds like!

That is a bit like what I've heard when walking into a kennel, so it very well could be some hound there!

Husky. Only at mealtime and playtime will Arwen howl. Otherwise, she's pretty low key, though...

OMG... well, I have a GEN-U-INE (said in a hick voice, LOL) hound sittin' here right next me, and he does NOT know what to make of your dogs. LOL He cocked his head to one side, then the other, and the other, and then the other. I wish I could have videotaped his response it was HILARIOUS! My first response? Dude, I hear hound. Listen to a basset rue and then replay your clip.. .that's what it sounds like! Now obviously, you don't have a basset over there, and I cannot imagine where a hound would have smuggled it's way into your gene pool because I have not noticed it thus far... but you're right, I do hear it. But I am also super used to the hound rue/howl, and not regular dog howls, so maybe I"m hearing something where it's not there??? But, dude, I hear hound. And my beagle, SO CONFUSED why your lab/huskies are talking hound to him. lol
