When you held me tight as I wiggle in your arms
You told me forever
When I whined and cried my first night home
You told me forever
When I licked your face and bit your toes
You told me forever
Even when I made a mistake
You told me forever
When you walked out the door
and never looked back
You told me forever
A very lovely poem that gives me the definition of "Forever." Nice.
ReplyDeleteDog Fence for Any size yard.
That is so sad. :(
ReplyDeleteThat is a very poignant poem, but one that will never be said here or there with you either.
ReplyDeleteWoos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning
Love this poem. Sniffs, The HoundDogs
ReplyDeleteAnd our dogs will never have to know the meaning of this poem again...

Forever never ends!
ReplyDeleteVery poignant and touching poem.
ReplyDeleteThis breaks my heart! One of my favorite lines from a song is:
ReplyDelete"and if love never
lasts forever,
what's forever for?"
A promise never to be broken...NEVER...forever.
ReplyDeleteWhen I get a new dog in my life, I always have a talk with them about "forever". And, I truly mean it.
ReplyDeleteYour poem is so sad...
In our house 'Forever' is Forever!
ReplyDeleteWe wish we could make it so for ALL pets.
