Animal Abusers Registration?

Michigan lawmakers want to pass a bill that people convicted of animal cruelty and/or abuse would have to register with state police.  They would have to register for five years and would have an annual fine of $250.  The registration list would go out to all shelters to stop them from adopting an animal.

Here's the full story:

So what do you think?  Should people who are caught abusing animal have to register with police?  Or are lawmakers going too far?  Or not far enough?

That is not too far at all in our book. If prosecuted and found guilty we don't think that is too much at all.
Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Best wishes Molly

As long as anyone who is adopting out dogs (rescues, shelters) has access to the list. It would be horrible if someone adopted out a dog to a bad person. I also think they should be doing community service - maybe not around animals, but in some way that would help animals. i.e. - build dog parks, maintain trails at parks, etc.
