Silver's Deep Healing Prayer

Dear God,

It is me again, Silver and I want to thank you for my surgery going so well.  I didn't have to "go under" so I didn't get the sickies and while I am grateful that everything went so good, I have a few, what should I call them...complaints concerns.

Do you know what Mom did to me?  First, she put me on a collar and leash and didn't even take me for a walk except in the backyard.  What in the world is that about?  I'm almost 11 years old and she's treating me like a puppy who doesn't know how pee outside.  I am a mother too you know, I'm pretty sure I can pee and poop all by myself.  So instead I made her worry and held it in for as long as possible!

Next she got me in this ridiculous outfit to wear when my bandage came off.  Mom thinks she pretty brilliant keeping my boo-boos cover with the long sleeves of one of grubby shirts.  Not even a nice one at that.  I don't think she even cares that it is two sizes too big, she just pulled the ends together and tied it with a rubber band.  So now I've got this flipping shirt tail sitting on my back.  Oh, the humiliation!

If that isn't bad enough she's making me eat at the kiddie table with Zappa and Fiona.  Now that's just down out rude!!  Brut and I enjoy our quiet meals together without the kids.  How long is this going to last?

And then to top everything I have to sleep with the kids too at night.  Which isn't the worse of it because I get to sleep in my favorite den under the bed, but still, a grown mother sleeping with her two rug rats every night.  I love them and all, but this is too much!!

So my biggest prayer is to help me heal as fast as possible so that I can get my life back.

Thanks for listening God,
Love,
Silver

Quick update on Silver

Thank you so much for all your prayers, thoughts and well wishes.  Silver is doing fine.  Everything went smoothly and the skin tags and tumor all came off easily.  Silver slept for most of day after coming home, didn't get sick once and although she's sore, the pain medicines are keeping her well.

It looks as though her recovery will be a speedy one, although getting her to potty, may be more of a challenge...

More on that tomorrow!

Thank you again for caring!!  :)

Silver's Prayers

Dear God,

I am going in for surgery tomorrow to remove a benign tumor and some old lady warts that for some reason you gave me.  I know that I am one of your children, so how did I get these warts??  I say a special prayer for the vets who will be taking care of me and hopefully I won't get so sick this time from the anesthesia like I did when I got spayed.  Please tell Brut to leave me alone when I get home as well, you know how he likes to play Dr. with me.  Thank you for listening and hearing my prayers.  I hope I get better real soon.  Thanks for being there God.

p.s.  I'd like to say a special prayer for Mom's friend and her horse.  Her horse isn't doing so well and she is very old and not eating or drinking well.  Please take care of both of them.  Thank you.

Love, Silver

The Brut Depth

It almost scares me how deep a human-canine love can go.  I've known many dogs in my life and felt a great amount of love from them that I didn't know was possible, but from the first time I laid eyes on Brut, I knew he was different.

I just didn't know how different.

When I am scared, I can crawl inside him and feel safe and protected.

When life is uncertain and shaky, he's the rock I hold on to.

When all seems lost I look long into his eyes and I find myself again.

I can't tell you how many times Brut and I are breathing at the same pace.

Or how we think of each other at the same time or have turned in unison with that knowing glance.

The secrets in our souls that would die for the other.

I never stop being fascinated with Brut when our spirits are entwined.

It is like having a canine twin.

There is something about a heart dog that is like no other.

It's like holding each other hearts

In our hands

And never letting go.

What's the Most Dangerous Thing Your Dog Has Eaten?

I'm sure we've all had scary moments when our dogs have gotten into something they shouldn't have.  We get scared, call the vet, and pray and hope they will be OK.  Then there is that one time they get into something dangerous, so dangerous you didn't know if they would live or die.  What is that food, poison, plant, item that shook you so far to the bone because they could really die?  And you didn't really know, I mean you really didn't know if they were going to be OK or not.

Alex-Still Running Free

Alex,

You were such an amazing dog.  I cried over your grave today as I noticed the ferns I planted from your favorite spot are really taking over.  Has it been 8 years already?  Seems like it was just yesterday your furry butt was here.  How I have missed you, yet your spirit lives on in each of the 24 Paws of Love.  But there will only ever be one Alex.

Run forever free, my boy.

Love,
Me

Asking for Paws

My Daddy is not doing so well today.  Could you please put your paws together and send prayers of help for he is in severe pain.  He has a double hernia and is having trouble with it today.

Woos to you.
