DADDY'S DOG THOUGHTS

Have you ever had a day where you wondered how you were going to make it through?  Or why the world is the way it is with so many bad things going on?  I had started walking the dogs, beginning with Brut and for the first part of it I was thinking about all of this and a project I had the next day.  It made it hard to remain on the positive side.  About half way through I stopped and had a talk with Brut.  I apologized to him because my mind was elsewhere and how unfair that was to him.  After our talk I began to focus on the woods we were exploring.  I felt so much better afterwards.

After I walked Brut, Zappa and I had a great walk as well.  No thinking about anything except, dog thoughts.  I did the same with Fiona, Silver, Chance and Blaze.

What a difference it made to get back in touch with my dogs and the purpose of the walk, which is our time together. I am able to talk with them and I don't have to worry about them fighting or arguing with me.  I don't have to worry about being criticized for being silly or not doing things the right way.  I am free to be myself.  During our walks I have the freedom to let go and not think about my worries.  I am so blessed to get that quality one on one time while witnessing their individual quirks and the way they attack life so full of curiosity and meaning.  No matter the length of the walk, they let me know that this is always the best walk ever.  The dogs and our walks are something special and I want to treasure each one, not waste it on my problems.

I'm so glad for our family and that I have the 24 Paws of Love.  When I want to escape reality and the world today, I just have to take a walk with my dogs and I can be free and in our own world of dog thoughts.

Very nice post. Sometimes we get caught up in our own thoughts, and animals help get us out of that just by being with them and being in the moment.

I know what you mean. The best cure for a bad day is to take the kids for a walk. They always make me smile and forget my worries and/or problems, even if it's only for a while:)

Bravo! A good walk is an excellent attitude adjustment for me. Take a little time away from the business of the day to reconnect with the dogs and nature.

Next weekend while I'm playing on this hop, I'll also be hosting one at my blog. I'd love to have you join in to help homeless bunny friends find furever homes. Check it out http://www.allthingsdogblog.com/2011/04/easter-rabbit-adoptathon-blog-hop.html

We have days like that, too, but you are right the love of our dogs and time in nature remind us of what is really important in life.

I too find a nice walk with the dogs is cathartic and a great way to enjoy the moment!

You and the whole dog owner world are really the most fortunate bunch, eh! My Dad talks to me all the time in the garden or on a walk...he asks me so many questions and I try to answer to the best of my ability. I know he's happy when we begin to play....perfect life!

What a wonderful post! Isn't it amazing how a little time with the paws that hold our hearts can make all the difference?

I AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY!!
This is a great post - I find myself letting all the drudgery of the world rules washing away during my walks with the dogs. The walks where I keep myself present and calm, really enjoying and being a part of them, are really so cleansing. Dogs thankfully keep us connected.

Getting lost in dog thoughts is a great escape! Some days at work, I just can't wait to arrive home and do just that!
