When the universe seems out of sync,

full of heartache and pain, what is the one thing you do with your dog that helps everything fall into place?
Now what did you call this again?
My tears had finally caught up with me upon learning the news of Toby's passing at The (mis)Adventures of Sage while I tried to eat a bagel.  I felt a the presence of a muzzle next to me and turned to a drooling Chance at my side.  My tears fell harder as I shared my bagel with him until I was half smiling through them.  If there is anything that could tell me that the universe was OK, it was sharing food with Chance.

Having the luxury of the kitchen as his domain, he follows me every where I go in the kitchen, sits at the table when eating, hangs out by the stove when cooking, accompanies me to the fridge and is my side man when prepping at the counter.  Mealtimes are our favorite times.  There isn't nothing he won't try and I've come to love spending my meals with him.

Is it almost ready, Mom??  Can't wait!!

If there is one thing that gives me comfort, to know that everything is alright, it is sharing a meal with Chance.

What is that special time for you and your dog?

This post is dedicated and inspired by another soul who was lost from this Earth but is watching over his family with love.  Toby's passing reminded me of the little things that we do with our dogs each day that aren't so little and mean the most to us and to treasure every moment of our time here.  Our hearts and paws are with Sage and her family during their time of loss.

When things get rough for me, i go to my meditation corner, sit on my yoga mat and have Maxx next to me. We would cuddle and that moment of silence as he gazed upon me as if trying to tell me he understood how i was feeling at the moment. That really assured me that things will get better and i will pull through whatever situation! :)

Cheers,

That special time used to be just before I fell asleep each night and just as I awoke in the morning...and reached out to touch my sweet Lucy's face. As soon as my fingers touched fur, I knew everything was going to be alright.

For some reason our Mom felt a very close connection to Toby and was so sad to see he had to go. We would like to think that we were some comfort to her too.

Soft woos and gentle hugs to Sage and her family.

Aside from Toby, Payton also crossed the rainbow bridge.

It's just sad news to hear about losing a loved one. I visited them.

Chance sounds a lot like my Toby was..always at my side and waiting for 'tastes' of whatever I was cooking. There wasn't anything he wouldn't eat! Well, except for raw asparagus. We'll sure miss him...he was my best friend for many years. Thanks for writing about his passing...it means a lot.

Feeling Freddie by my side in the night tells me all is right with the world!

I have 3 favorite times of the day... first thing in the morning when Dad leaves and I have snuggles with momma in the bed, when dad gets home from work and it's just me and him for an hour before momma comes home... and late at night when I get to hang out with both of them on the couch... I'm glad you've found comfort in Chance while mourning the passing of a blog friend.

The special time we had with my dog is our bonding every morning.,
she goes to my room early in the morning and tries to pool my pillows and blanket to wake me up, she knew I need to wake up early not to be late in school.,she even try to leak my face to wake me up.I missed those times.,

Oh, I cried reading about Toby's passing! It sure brought back a lot of memories of losing Lilac. I love having quiet time with Bunny on the couch, but Blueberry is the one who seeks me out when I am most upset. It never fails!

As with any loving relationship, it is the simple everyday plain things that get scorched into our soul. It is Siku sleeping on her back pressed tightly against my legs snoring, or Quinn resting his chin on Steve's leg or a million "nothings" from each of the pups that make us smile and immediately think of them...and which will cause us the greatest pain when they are no longer part of the daily fabric of our lives. We wish Toby's family peace.

First of all, so sad to read about Toby's passing.

My dogs love to be outside and I love to be right there alongside them. I'd have to say that special place is outside in their pen where we can sit and talk and watch the squirrels playing in the trees.

There's something about their innocent eyes and wide open smile that does make everything seem like it'll all be OK. And it usually does turn out that they were right, in the long run.
